high performance silica fume in concrete
Silica fume (microsilica ) is a high performance, densified silica fume powdered product, derived as a by-product from the production of Ferro Silicon using the arc furnace method. Used in pre-mixed concrete for enhancing mechanical properties of concretes with special performance requirements, including increased strength, reduced permeability, improved abrasion resistance and increased corrosion resistance.
Properties:
- Higher compressive strength
- Higher Particle Packing Density
- Lower Permeability
- Wear resistance
- Freeze & Thaw resistance
- High electrical resistivity
- Resistance to chemical attacks
- Increased insulation properties
Uses in Concrete:
- Water retaining Structures like dams, canals etc. to impart higher strength & lower permeability
- Bridges & marine structures for Durability, wear resistance, less corrosion and longer life of structures
- Pavements like runways & industrial heavy duty floorings to achieve abrasion resistance
- Multistoried buildings to get higher strength & lesser element sizes
